Waiting, waiting…nope. No more

I feel like I’ve been on hold for a long time. Waiting for one thing or another has become a block to accomplishing many things so I’m declaring a stop to the waiting. You know the saying “Today is the first day of the rest of your life”? well…Today is indeed the first day of the rest of my life and I intent for it to be different.

What’s changing? Well a lot and at the same time not much. In some cases I’ll be returning to things I used to do but have stopped and in other
cases I’m going to start some new things.

I have two quilts in process at the moment. I’ve been accomplishing a lot lately on these and intend to keep on track with them. One will be a duvet cover rather than a quilt as it will be our winter weight bed cover. I’m also planning to use some fabric I’ve had for years to make a bed
skirt for the bed in the RV. It will look great with either of these quilts as well as the one that is currently on that bed.

I have returned to my exercise program. Some are for improved movement issues – carpal tunnel, heal spur, arthritis in knees, nerve glides to
maintain the repair of my elbow, work on my shoulder to improve mobility of the one I separated when Candy threw me plus general flexibility and weight loss.

I have stopped procrastinating about it and signed up for a class in ASL (American Sign Language). I’ve learned some along the way but have
always wished I knew more.

I’ve scheduled time in my day to practice my flute. I am also giving up my guitar. It needs serious repairs that are more than it is worth. The fact that I have loved it for many years does not change the fact that I can no longer play it comfortably as is and can’t justify the cost of the repairs. I will concentrate on flute, singing and work on the Q-chord. This later is effectively an electric autoharp type of instrument that we’ve had for some while. The singing and flute will also help rebuild my breath support which will be good for my asthma.

I intend to schedule out of the house stuff for several days a week at least. I will use this time for community stuff such as providing delivery services for donated food from Starbucks to Tent City and other such things as I discover them. I feel better if I am active so enough of sitting! “A
body in motion tends to stay in motion” so I’m going to get moving! I hope to include some swimming, time at the dog park for Ginger’s sake and some time at the gun range.

I’m using this blog as a way to call myself into accountability so you all help me stay accountable!

  1. YAY! You are an inspiration. Wish we lived closer so we could give each other energy, but in the meantime, staying in touch this way will do. What was your initial motivator? What ever it was it’s wonderful! (Don’t forget to give your swelf permission not to do everything instantly!!) Love you, suz
